This Edition: Lucy Depp Nature Preserve
Tucked into a secluded corner of Shawnee Hills (North of Dublin), this preserve, owned and cared for by Columbus Parks & Recreation is pint-sized, but big in character. It is on a point near the O'Shaugennesy Nature Preserve and the OSU Mussle Researsh Facility, where the east lake connects with the Scioto River above the dam. Lucy Depp was the daughter of a black owner of much lof the and in Shawnee Hills. He moved there and bought the land after being freed in his Virginia owner's will. He spent most of his adult life working with the underground railroad on the river and in it's caves that were sealed with the creation of the dam.
